Paper mill chemicals are a diverse range of substances used in the papermaking industry to enhance the quality, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of paper production. These chemicals are carefully selected and applied at various stages of the papermaking process, from pulp preparation to wastewater treatment. They serve different purposes, such as improving paper strength, brightness, and printability, controlling microbial growth, enhancing water clarity, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. By utilizing our paper mill chemicals, manufacturers can optimize paper production, reduce waste, enhance product quality, and minimize the environmental impact of the industry.
Retention Agents
Polymers or additives added to the pulp to improve the retention of fine particles, fillers, and fibres during the papermaking process, enhancing paper formation and reducing papermaking losses.
Surface Sizing Agents
Surface sizing agents have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends. It forms a thin film on the paper web, the hydrophilic tail of it joined with the fibre, whereas the hydrophobic tail faces outwards. The thin film reduces paper dust; improves the surface strength, printability, and water resistance of the paper. It is normally applied in a paper mill through the size press at the dry end section. This is a specialty surface sizing agent to bring down the internal sizing cost to a great extent
Defoamers
Defoamers are added to control and eliminate foam formation in various stages of the papermaking process, preventing issues such as poor drainage, equipment overflow, and surface defects.
Retention and Drainage Aids
Polymers or additives that improve the retention of fibres and filler materials, enhance drainage rates, and optimize the formation and strength properties of paper.
Drinking Agents
It is designed to remove ink, coatings, and other contaminants from recycled paper during the deinking process, improving the quality of recycled fibres for paper production
Biocides
Control and prevent the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi in paper mill systems, preventing biofilm formation, microbial-induced corrosion, and product quality issues.
DSR (Dry Strength Resin)
A chemical additive used in paper mills to improve the strength and tensile properties of paper, enhancing its resistance to tearing, bursting, and creasing, resulting in higher quality and more durable paper products.
WSR (Wet Strength Resin)
A chemical agent applied in paper mills to provide wet strength to paper, enabling it to maintain its strength and integrity even when exposed to moisture or water, making it suitable for applications such as packaging, labeling, and food contact.
Felt Cleaning/Conditioning
Chemical formulations used in paper mills to clean and condition felts, which are used in the papermaking process to support the formation and transportation of the paper sheet. These cleaners/conditioners help remove contaminants, improve water drainage, prevent felt blockage, and maintain optimal performance and longevity of felts, ensuring efficient and consistent paper production.
Stickies Control
Stickies are tacky substances contained in the paper pulp and process water systems of paper machines. Stickies have a large tendency to make deposits on the processing equipment in certain stages of the papermaking process. Contaminations of paper that are classified as tacky are also called stickies.
Odour Control
An aqueous solution of a combination of biocides that offers excellent protection against a broad range of micro-organisms including bacteria and other fungi. It operates through a unique dual-action mechanism. Firstly, it has a powerful biocidal action that controls the microorganisms. Secondly, it reacts with thiol-containing groups that cause bad odours e.g. hydrogen sulphide, mercaptans, and organic sulphides to form more complex, less odorous compounds
Wastewater Treatment Chemicals
Chemicals used in the treatment of wastewater generated by paper mills, including coagulants, flocculants, and pH adjusters, to remove pollutants and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
